Lofty Peaks Yarn grew from a simple idea: natural dyeing could become both a creative craft and a sustainable livelihood opportunity for women artisans in the Himalayas.
Our story
From spark to skein
In the spring of 2023, a conversation with friends from a Chicago knitting group sparked an unexpected idea: naturally dyeing yarn could be both cost-effective and creatively fulfilling.
That idea grew into a vision for Himalayan Naari to expand into natural dyeing as a sustainable livelihood opportunity for women artisans. With training, infrastructure and community support, the work took root in Chaukori, a small rural village in North India.
Lofty Peaks Yarn emerged from this shared vision and collective effort, offering a curated palette of naturally dyed Merino and Himalayan wool.
